Hotel Nexus is a multifandom roleplaying community. We’re pretty laid back here, and we just want to have fun. In this game, the ingenuity and creativity of your character can be advantageous, as game contents can be molded through interactions and requests. The hotel can make just about anything happen, if the Benefactor allows it...
ARRIVAL
Wherever you were, whatever you were doing, you suddenly find yourself somewhere completely different. Or, perhaps, not so different - if you frequented luxury hotels, that is. Maybe you had been walking through a door and found yourself opening the door to a hotel lobby instead of… wherever it was you had been trying to go. Perhaps you simply woke up and found yourself curled on the luxurious, deep crimson couch in the lobby. Maybe you woke when you never expected to wake at all after a fatal injury. It’s even possible that all you did was blink for a moment and this new setting met your gaze instead of what you expected.
The floors of the hotel are made of dark, black marble that seem to cast shadows for things which aren't there. Out of the corner of your eye, you may see shapes, as if someone were standing over your shoulder. A large crystal chandelier hangs over the center of the lobby, above a luxurious lounge set of couches and tables. Towards the back of the room is a finely-polished, dark wood and marble counter where someone in a fine, crisp suit stands. Sometimes they appear male, sometimes female, other times it’s impossible to place a gender at all - and what’s more is that you can see through them, as if they were nothing more than a hologram. But they’re always there, smiling politely, waiting for your arrival.
“Welcome to the Hotel Nexus. We’ve been expecting you."
Their tone of voice is welcoming, but something about it causes your skin to crawl. A feeling of unease washing over you as you are handed an unremarkable item and a keycard. Not only is your name already on it, but even your picture. There’s also a number emblazoned upon the keycard’s surface in gold - you can only assume that it’s a room number. When you look up, you realize the figure in the suit who greeted you is no longer standing there, as if they vanished in the split second you glanced at the keycard, leaving you with questions unanswered.
PEOPLE
So, you are wondering who you’re going to interact with?
Learn about the NPCs in the hotel and find out who your neighbors are.
LANGUAGES
At Hotel Nexus, all speech is automatically a universal language. You won't notice unless you know the person you're talking to doesn't speak your canon language. If you really concentrate, you can speak in a language you know so that it doesn’t universally translate. Sign language works the same way: you will unconsciously sign in a universal sign language unless you concentrate on your specific country/region language. However, you will not suddenly know how to sign if you didn't previously know sign language. Any handwritten notes are in your original language, untranslated, but all text on technological devices, including communication devices and the hotel’s online network, are translated for you.
COMMUNICATION DEVICES
When you inspect the additional item you were provided upon arrival, you will discover it is a communication device. It has the capability to send texts and make calls. Most devices will have a video or hologram feature. There is a directory of current residents under the list of contacts. All devices are connected to the hotel network, so it’s possible to create a public message to residents or filter them to individuals or groups. In necessary circumstances, the hotel will send a message directly to your device. If you try to reply to the number, there will be no answer.
What the device looks like is up to each player. It can resemble an item your character used to own or be something as simple as a mobile phone. Your character must be able to use it, so keep that in mind if your character is not human.
KEYCARDS
A Hotel Nexus access card that doubles as an identification card.
It features your name and room number in glittering, gold lettering. There’s a recent photo of you. If you pay attention, you’ll notice that the photo updates with any significant change to your person. If you lose your keycard, a penalty will be invoked to acquire a new one.
YOUR INVENTORY
You arrive to Hotel Nexus with only the clothes on your back - whatever you were lucky (or unlucky) to be wearing at the last point you recall from your world. Thanks to the hotel’s generosity, you also have the room key to a suite and a communication device. You may have a few insignificant accessories that were on your person, but anything of importance or weaponry is absent. If you really miss it, it looks like you’re going to have to figure out a way to get it back...
SUITES

Each suite has two individual rooms for residents and a common area complete with a kitchenette, a dining bar, and a common room area. Suites are fully furnished with the basics you'll need during your stay. Individual rooms include private bathrooms and closets. There are three balconies in every suite: one off each room and a shared balcony off the common area.
The view from each balcony will depend upon the residents who live there. The room view is particular to each resident; someplace special, perhaps, or maybe a place you never wanted to lay eyes on again. Common area balcony views will either be a single location that's important to both residents or will rotate every other day to 1 extra scene for each resident. It feels like you’re there, standing in the familiar air of your view. The atmosphere, the smells in the air, the sounds filtering up to the balcony - it's alive with movement of any people or other particulars in the scene.
ROOMMATES
The hotel may give you a roommate. A request to change rooms for any reason may be made to the Concierge. Keep in mind that not all requests will be granted.
Typically the hotel will only assign two people to a room, however there is technically no limit on how many can stay. There is a catch to this, however. For one, it must be approved by the Benefactor (through the Concierge). Secondly, the size and furniture of the suite will not automatically change itself to accommodate more than the two people it was designed for, which means people may have to share rooms or sleep in the common area.
FOOD
Every suite comes stocked with simple foods. Some of it may be a little bland to your taste, and it may not satisfy a particularly big appetite, but it’s free. On occasion, different food items may be offered in the hotel common area to provide variance. If you find yourself craving more, or particular items, try making a request through the Concierge.
ACQUIRING ITEMS/JOBS
Unlike most hotels, you’re bound to discover that you need to find yourself a job at Hotel Nexus in order to get things you want. You’re provided the basics, but the food in your room is plain and there are items you’re missing from home. Maybe you overhear a rumor or were bright enough to ask the Concierge for what you're missing. Regardless, you'll eventually learn that requests take money and you need a job to earn it. Jobs may be acquired through the Concierge or other players - with the Concierge's stamp of approval.
Along with player characters, the spectres wander about, engaging in aspects of the hotel, so there’s no shortage of customers. Just try to avoid walking through them, alright?
HOTEL CURRENCY
Completing jobs at the hotel will apply credits to your keycard. The balance can be checked at the Concierge or by tapping your keycard over your communication device. There is a physical currency in the form of gold coins, but it’s so rare you may never encounter it.
HOTEL INFORMATION
Even though it can sometimes seem a little bit creepy, everything about this hotel is lavish. Some of the more typical hotelesque areas you can come across include:

PENALTIES
Actions tend to have consequences and Hotel Nexus is no exception to that. Various actions will come with penalties, depending on severity. Some come with warnings, some do not, but it is highly advised to take any given warnings to heart to prevent any... unpleasantness.
Replacing a Keycard
To acquire a new keycard, the hotel requires compensation. This is generally one of your senses, such as taste or sight, or a special ability, if you have one of those. After the request is made and the Concierge provides you with your replacement keycard, the sense/power will be taken from you without warning for 2 - 10 days (player’s choice). Each additional replacement card will increase the length of time that a sense/power will be missing by at least 7 days. Maybe don’t lose it next time?
Attempting to Leave Before Checkout
Nothing will open the front doors or any windows of the hotel. Windows are breakable with enough force, such as an explosion or extreme strength, but if you go outside of it, you’ll experience the falling-to-black-out - even on the first floor. Trying too many times to open a window/door will result in electrocution. This rule does not seem to apply to the doors within the suites, allowing guests to access their balconies or open the windows to let in some fresh air.
Should a resident try to leave the hotel by climbing or jumping down to their view, they will have an uncomfortable experience of falling for an immeasurable amount of time before blacking out and reawakening anywhere from a day to five days later (player's choice).
If you find yourself on what looks like a roof of the hotel and try to fly or jump off, the same applies.
Characters with special abilities such as teleportation will experience worse unpleasantry before re-awakening if an attempt to leave is made with powers. You could experience the falling sensation, or simply disappear for a while with no sensation whatsoever. You might even explode.
Every time an attempt is made, the period of time will increase before you return. Try too many times, and something worse might happen to you.
Staying In Another Room
Should you choose to not sleep in the suite that was generously provided to you, you will start to get a headache, the severity of which increases the longer you refuse to stay in your given suite. During the first night, a warning message will be sent to your device stating: "You are not authorized to live in #xxxx. Please return to your room." The hotel seems to know whether you’re intentionally avoiding your provided suite or merely staying out late exploring or visiting another resident. The longer you ignore the warning, the worse your head is going to feel until you simply black out and wake up back in the common area of your suite. You can tough it out, but you’ll still only last a few days before you’re returned where you belong. If you repeatedly sleep outside of your suite, you’ll find the pain to worsen and the time to be briefer before you black out. It seems to increase how long you’re "absent" before you wake up, as well.

Abuse of Power(s)
The first incident will result most likely in nothing more than a warning to your device, depending on the severity. Persist and you’ll awaken the next morning with that power stripped from you. You will be unable to use that ability for anywhere from 1 - 5 days (player’s choice). Continued abuse of powers will result in an increase in the time the power is negated. Be careful or it could be permanently taken from you.

Public List of Miscreants (link TBA)
The hotel keeps a list of misdeeds on its network for all to see. It's almost like a public wall of shame, since your name will be listed along with what you did...
If they’re keeping records like this, it makes you wonder what happens if you receive too many black marks. Spoiler: Nothing good.

Even though it can sometimes seem a little bit creepy, everything about this hotel is lavish. Some of the more typical hotelesque areas you can come across include:

- Business room with a computer lab, including printers, scanners, and other common office items.
- Fitness area with an assortment of gym equipment, including a track, a sauna, and a pool.
- Laundry room with machines free for use. An assortment of detergents and fabric softeners are available to pick from.
- Attached parking garage through a long, winding tunnel. The tunnel's walls and ceilings are glass with an outside view of stars in deep space. It’s quite beautiful or extremely unsettling, depending on your opinion. The garage itself doesn't have any doors that lead outside, though there is an open roof level. Outlandish vehicles appear/disappear in parking spaces at random.
- Waterpark with an indoor and an outdoor area. At least, it looks like a sunny day outside if you can forget you’re located in deep space. There are slides, pools, sprinkler areas, and places to lounge. Refreshment stations can be found selling cool beverages as well as seating with umbrella shades. On the indoor section, the ceiling sparkles like clear crystal that let’s in a cool blue shade of sunlight. At one of the outdoor-indoor entrances sits a large, golden gorilla statue with eyes that seem to follow you.
